Poland offers an incredible mix of vibrant culture, deep history, and stunning architecture. During our recent trip in late September and early October, we travelled through three distinct cities, each offering a completely different atmosphere. Having Tamara, who speaks fluent Polish, guide us through local menus and hidden spots made the experience even richer, but even without speaking the language, this route is incredibly accessible for any traveller.
If you are planning a Polish getaway, here is our tried-and-tested itinerary to help you make the most of your trip.
Start Your Journey in Poznań
We began our trip in Poznań, a city famous for its colourful Renaissance-style Old Market Square and lively atmosphere. It sits slightly off the main tourist trail compared to other Polish cities, giving it a wonderfully authentic feel. Between wandering the vibrant streets and tasting the famous St. Martin's croissants, there is plenty to capture.

Experience the Resilience of Warsaw. From Poznań, we headed to the capital. Warsaw is a city of striking contrasts. Spend the morning walking through the meticulously reconstructed Old Town and the afternoon surrounded by modern skyscrapers. It is a fantastic place for street photography and cityscape shots, blending history with rapid modernisation.

Finish in Historic Kraków. Our final stop before flying home was Kraków. Spared from the extensive destruction of WWII, Kraków’s historic centre and the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz remain beautifully intact. The sweeping views of Wawel Castle and the intricate details of the Cloth Hall are perfect for capturing. It is the perfect city to slow down, enjoy the café culture, and soak in the history before heading to the airport.

Tips for the Route: Travel between these cities efficiently using the Polish rail network (PKP Intercity). Trains are comfortable, affordable, and a great way to see the countryside. Pack light, bring comfortable walking shoes, and make sure your camera is ready for the distinct architectural shifts between each region.
