Mexico
Crossing over from Cuba into southern Mexico opened up a far more expansive overland adventure, weaving through dramatic river gorges, deep-jungle Maya ruins, ancient wonders of the world, and the sun-soaked Caribbean coast. Touching down in Tabasco served as the gateway into the lush landscapes of the south—venturing out on the water beneath the colossal cliff faces of Sumidero Canyon and walking among the mist-shrouded jungle pyramids of Palenque. Taking the long-distance buses up through the fortified colonial streets of Campeche and across the Yucatán Peninsula brought us face-to-face with the staggering scale of Chichén Itzá, before capping off the journey on the coast with turquoise waters, powder-white sand, and the electric energy of The BPM Festival.
