Monaco

Monaco is a stunning, once-in-a-lifetime destination defined by extreme luxury and a notoriously high cost of living. To experience the principality without paying the massive premium of Monte Carlo hotels, staying in nearby Nice is highly recommended—the direct train connection is incredibly cheap and takes just over 20 minutes. From its deep motorsport history to the high-stakes glamour of its legendary squares, it offers an unmatched atmosphere on the coast.

Highlights from Our Days in Monaco

  • The Casino de Monte-Carlo: Stepping into the iconic "James Bond" setting and taking in the grand marble archways and ornate columns of the casino's interior. Going into one of the casinos is a must, but to avoid wasting money, take advantage of the free first game that many offer, play it, and then head out to snap a photo by the playful beach-themed roulette display.

  • Formula 1 Heritage: Visiting the monument commemorating Juan Manuel Fangio's historic 1955 Grand Prix victory. For racing fans, booking seats well in advance is essential, though finding a spot on the public roads up the hill to look down over the circuit is a fantastic alternative.

  • Supercars & City Glamour: Enjoying the beauty of the wonderful, high-end cars constantly circulating the area, and pausing for a photo with a bright red Ferrari parked right in the bustling Place du Casino.

  • Port Hercule & Seaside Dining: Walking the harbour to admire the massive luxury superyachts moored against the dramatic cliffs, and unwinding with lunch by the beach, complete with beautifully painted ceramic tableware.
