Barcelona

Barcelona is a dynamic coastal city where striking modernist architecture seamlessly merges with the tight, historic alleyways of its medieval centre. It offers a distinctly different atmosphere from the deep Moorish roots of Andalusia or the high-rise resort energy of Benidorm that you have experienced on your other travels in Spain. The city operates as an open-air museum, heavily shaped by Antoni Gaudí and his contemporaries, providing a brilliant backdrop of organic stone structures, vivid mosaics, and ornate interiors perfect for portrait photography.

Highlights from Our Days in Barcelona

  • The Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic): Wandering through the narrow, atmospheric stone streets of the historic centre and capturing a great shot of Tamara right beneath the intricately carved Pont del Bisbe.

  • Urban Street Art: Taking in the city's vibrant street art scene, spotting striking murals painted directly onto the historic brick and stonework.

  • Palau de la Música Catalana: Exploring the breathtaking, light-filled interiors of this modernist concert hall, taking a seat in the grand auditorium (DSC_0564.jpg), and admiring the incredible stained glass and vivid floral mosaics covering the walls and pillars.

  • Park Güell's Stone Viaducts: Walking through the surreal, undulating rock walkways and rough stone pillars designed by Gaudí, finding the perfect natural light and textures for a series of portraits of Tamara.
