Cannes

Cannes is synonymous with coastal glamour, deeply associated with high-end luxury, superyachts, and its world-famous film festival. Situated on the beautiful French Riviera—just a short distance along the coast from the relaxed, pastel streets of Menton that we previously explored—Cannes offers a decidedly more polished and high-profile Mediterranean experience. Exploring the city involves walking past grand palace hotels, exclusive boutiques, and expansive sandy beaches, making it a fantastic spot to take in the vibrant energy of the Côte d'Azur.

Highlights from Our Days in Cannes

  • La Croisette: Strolling along the iconic, palm-lined promenade that curves along the waterfront, taking in the views of the Mediterranean on one side and the grand, historic Belle Époque hotels on the other.

  • The Palais des Festivals: Walking past the famous venue that hosts the Cannes Film Festival, and spotting the handprints of movie stars set into the pavement right outside.

  • Le Suquet (The Old Quarter): Escaping the modern glamour by climbing the winding, cobbled streets of the city's historic old town, reaching the top of the hill for sweeping panoramic views across the bay and the marina.

  • The Old Port (Vieux Port): Watching the incredible contrast of traditional fishing boats moored right alongside massive, modern superyachts at the base of Le Suquet.

  • Riviera Beaches: Relaxing on the city's wide stretches of sand, enjoying the vibrant beach club atmosphere and the warm Mediterranean sun.
