Quindio

Quindío is the verdant, dramatic heart of Colombia’s coffee region, where rolling emerald hills climb straight into misty Andean cloud forests dominated by towering wax palms. Venturing into the mountains above the Cocora Valley alongside Tamara and her friend turned this leg of the journey into an incredible trek through wild high-altitude landscapes. From winding trails through lush ridgelines and sampling fresh local fruit on the road to reaching cloud-wrapped summits and relaxing in the lively atmosphere of the valley below, it delivered an authentic, unforgettable adventure through Colombia’s high country.

  • Dusk in the Valley & Local Sights: Coming down the mountain as blue hour settled over the dirt tracks, passing roadside stalls selling obleas under glowing streetlamps with palms silhouetted against the evening sky.

  • Local Fruit & Valley Charm: Snacking on sweet, freshly opened mangosteens on the drive through the mountains, spotting local dogs keeping watch outside traditional colourful storefronts, and laughing at the quirky local mascots greeting visitors at the base of the trails.
